PLANNING EVENTS

Since our chapter encompasses a fairly wide territory, we plan to hold smaller, more regional events throughout the year, and one major yearly event to be held in a central location.  We hope this will make it easier for people to attend the smaller events, and still feel 'connected' to the chapter! 

Please know that all events are 'total participation' events, meaning we'd love input from YOU!!  What are your interests - conformation showing, obedience, herding, CGC testing, puppy training tips, or just plain partying!  We want this to be your chapter, and encourage as much participation from you, the members, as you're willing to give!  Do you know of a great location for an event?  A park in the mountains, or a dog-friendly beach?  Do some research, and find out what it would take to host an event there!  Know any trainers, behaviorists, etc., who would be willing to come and do a demo/lecture?

UPCOMING EVENTS

Save the date:  October 1 – 2, 2011! 

In addition to a crowd of great dogs and fun people of all ages, the schedule will include:

-  training session in Treibball (an emerging canine sport where the dog uses his / her nose, shoulder and chest to “herd” gymnastic balls into a goal)

-  Shiloh Trivia Quiz during lunch

-  Doggie Games

-  SESSA Meeting

-  Fundraising Auction

-  Basic canine massage techniques

-  “Dinner For The Dogs” (details forthcoming).

We also hope to have a Canine Good Citizen evaluator on site and a professional photographer for posed and candid shots for individual purchase. We will share the details as they emerge.

Our event will be held at Smoky View Cottages in Maggie Valley.  Terri gives us a reduced rate for the cabins, and has been a very gracious hostess to us in the past!  The convenience of staying on the site where activities will be held is a hug plus!

Day-stay-only accommodations:  If you can’t spend the weekend with us, you are welcome to attend the activities but please note that there will be a $10 charge per vehicle for use of the grounds.
